The Embodied Gen exists because of the believe that every child and caregiver deserves to feel seen, heard, and free to be themselves without judgment or restriction. My approach combines somatic movement and awareness, mindfulness, and yoga rooted in Childism - which centres children’s rights and authentic voices. Here together we learn to embrace Neurodiversity and honour the wide range of ways minds and bodies function.I am here to support families and educators who want honest connection, autonomy, and agency through compassion and clear communication. This is a space for growth and connection grounded in trust and respect.
Hi, I'm Mahta Collings, founder of The Embodied Gen. A somatic movement and art expression facilitator and educator, as well as an advocate for embodied liberation. My work brings together somatic movement, somatic art and somatic yoga, as well as trauma-informed and educational yoga for children and youth, with a focus on SEL - social emotional learning - and Neurodiversity. With an MSc in Child Studies, I’m dedicated to nurturing autonomy, agency, and authentic living for families, educators, and communities.
But this is not just about me, it’s about us and the work we all do together, as parents and educators. I see myself as a facilitator here, not a leader; there’s no hierarchy between us. When I use “we,” it’s to honour and reflect that shared spirit behind this space. You’re just as big a part of this as I am. We’re not just working on our individual selves; we’re creating ripples that bring this work and transformation into the world, challenging systems of oppression and shifting things together as a community.
